  Upcoming Events: Week of April 3 - Swimming at the HS April 19 - 2nd Grade Performance Spring Weather As temperatures begin to warm up, please remind your child that they will need a coat for recess if the temperature has not reached 60 degrees.  If they are playing and get warm, they are asked to tie their coat around their waist. 3rd Grade Swimming We will start swimming the week of April 3rd. Permission slips will be sent home on March 27th. Please return the form by Wednesday, March 29th.  Your child will need a swimsuit, towel, and plastic bag (for the wet suit and towel).  Girls with long hair will need a rubber band to tie their hair back. Goggles are fine. This water safety and swimming course offers instruction in survival swimming. Water related emergencies and lifesaving skills are also discussed. March is Reading Month Third grade is sharing in the love of books by participating in a March Reading Madness Tournament of Books. Fiction and Nonfiction will face off in this tournament as we read a variety of both throughout the month and vote on our favorites. Each class has one or two books left to read and we'll be voting on the top half of the bracket next week. The Elite 8 will then face off.   Upcoming Events: March 9th - Talent Show March 10th - Author Visit March 15th - 1st Grade Program March 16th - Mrs. Peek/Mrs. Bacolor's Classes to Planetarium Report Cards Report cards will be sent home this week.  On the SJPS 4-1 scale, a level 3 is our target and represents a high level of achievement. There will be very few 4's, as a level 4 indicates performance well beyond grade level expectations and in some cases, a level 4 is not possible. The rubrics are very informative for you as a parent. You are encouraged to review these and become familiar with the grade level standards for your child. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card please feel free to email me.
