Week of April 17th, 2023

Upcoming Events:

April 18th, 20th and 21st - M-STEP ELA TESTING

April 19th - LATE START and 2nd Grade Performance

May 2nd, 4th and 5th - M-STEP MATH TESTING

Multiplication and Division Facts

This week we will begin our next multiplication and division challenge...ice cream!  Please have your child continue reviewing their multiplication and division facts.  The ice cream challenge will be very similar to the pizza challenge we did in January, but instead of slices, students will earn ice cream scoops and toppings. We will celebrate everyone's hard work to learn their multiplication and division facts with an ice cream party at the end of the year. :)

M-STEP Testing

Third grade M-STEP testing starts this week. The schedule is below. There is really no way students can "study" for these tests, but you can help your child be ready for these by:

  • Making sure your child has a good night's rest.
  • Making sure your child eats a healthy breakfast.
  • Providing a positive send off to school in the morning.
  • Not scheduling appointments on these days.

As we prepare for our M-STEP  tests to begin this week, we would like to make you aware of important information regarding technology. Please note that during the M-STEP testing, all electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, and Bluetooth headphones (or any headphones not used for testing), must be turned off and stored away from the work area.

Because of this, we encourage you to keep phones and smart watches at home on testing days. If your student brings one of these devices to school, the device should remain in the backpack and be powered off. Any devices that are not in backpacks will be collected by the teacher and stored in the teacher's area until testing is completed.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

3rd Grade Field Trip Letter
Our third grade field trip to Potawatomi Zoo will be on Friday, June 2nd. A letter will be coming home on Monday detailing the information for this trip.  If you would like to attend as a parent chaperone, please return the letter to your child's classroom teacher.

Art this week
During Art this week, students will create individual portfolios and fill them with all their work from the year and portfolios will go home with them. Portfolios should roll into backpacks fairly easily, or plastic grocery bags work well to house them too. If you could send a plastic bag with your child on their art day this week, that would be fantastic!

Weekly Specials Schedule

Our specials are on a Monday-Friday schedule and the same time each day. 3rd grade specials begin right at 9:25 every day. Wednesdays will be used as make-up days for missed specials, extra computer lessons, music practice days, etc.
