Week of November 14th, 2022

Wednesday, Nov. 16th - Late Start
Thursday, Nov. 17th- Thanksgiving Luncheon & Unit 2 Math Test (Area & Multiplication)
Friday, Nov. 18th - 1/2 Half Day- Dismissal at 12:09, End of 1st Trimester, READ-IN
Thank you so much for attending your child’s conference and all your support from home this first trimester. Research has shown that kids do much better in school when their parents play an active role in their education. A little of your time – every day – makes a big difference. Parents who ask daily about school and check over schoolwork send a powerful message about the value of learning. I appreciate all you do to support your children!
In celebration of the end of the 1st Trimester and all their hard work, we are going to do a READ-IN on Friday! Your child can wear pajamas to school and bring some extra books from home. They can also bring a pillow or something soft to lay on and an extra healthy snack.
Save-the-Date
Our third graders will be presenting The Nutcracker for families and friends on Wednesday, December 14th at 6:30. The performance will be held at the SJHS auditorium. No tickets are needed and there is no cost for this event.
Costumes
What does your child need to wear for our performance? Click here to view the costumes for each part.
Cold Weather
Now that we are getting into colder weather patterns, please check the weather so that your child has the necessary clothing--boots (when there is snow on the ground), hats, coats, and gloves/mittens--to be going out for recess. We do go out most days unless it is raining or below zero wind chills!
Multiplication Facts
Please continue weekly multiplication fact practice from home. We started with the 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s, but will now continue on to 3’s and 4’s. We are working on these in class, but many students will benefit from additional practice at home. Resources to use include: IXL F Skills, Flashcards, using items at home to make equal groups (for our more visual learners) examples would be: pennies, beads, popsicle sticks, etc.
Healthy Snacks
We have snack time daily right after our morning recess. Lately more and more students are beginning to bring in snacks that are not healthy choices. Please do not send potato chips, Doritos, cookies, etc. as a snack. Healthier options include: crackers, cheese, fruit/veggies, fruit bars, granola bars, etc. Please remember that Mrs. Peek's class is a peanut-free classroom. We appreciate your help with this!
Weekly Specials Schedule
Our specials are on a Monday-Friday schedule and the same time each day. 3rd grade specials begin right at 9:25 every day. Wednesdays will be used as make-up days for missed specials, extra computer lessons, music practice days, etc.
